Why TIMBEREXCHANGE (OBCHOD DŘÍVÍM) on the Internet?
This Internet application is a suitable complementary trade tool to the traditional trade of timber and wooden products. In traditional business contacts, there exist, in most cases, stable relations between suppliers and customers, where companies, within the framework of business relations, mutually exchange price lists and information on actual supplies and demands, or as the case may be, there exist long-term contracts on the take-off or delivery of timber or wooden products. This is valid, primarily, for round timber and pulpwood, less for timber and wooden products.
In a period of emergence of new information technologies, it is becoming more and more opportune in all branches of the economy to exchange rapid, updated and comprehensive trade information and its publishing to a wide circle of potential interested parties. More and more companies are acquiring computer technology, resolving problems of data processing and introducing new information systems or programmes. A fact not to be forgotten is that more and more companies are connected to the Internet, either via a modem or fixed a line, and have established one or more e-mail fields.
The application TIMBEREXCHANGE (OBCHOD DŘÍVÍM) is a speedy, up-to-date and permanently accessible information source about the supply and demand for wood raw materials and products. It enables companies to seek out immediately from the database the supplies or demands for timber, while at the same time enabling them to enter into the database their own supplies and demands of timber.
This application is now in the stage of a test regimen, which means practically that registration and exploitation of the database are free of charge. Entry, changes and cancellation of data records are linked to registration and to an allocated member code. Data searching is neither linked to registration nor to a member code.
Why to register in the database TIMBEREXCHANGE (OBCHOD DŘÍVÍM)?
Any utilisation of the database during the test regimen is free of charge.
If you register in the test regimen, you will receive discounts after passing over to the payment regimen.
REGISTRATION will enable you to enter into the database your own supplies and demands, amend them, or as the case may be, after having them satisfied or them being no longer up-to-date, you can cancel them. It will further enable you to search through the supplies and demands of other registered members of the database of TIMBEREXCHANGE (OBCHOD DŘÍVÍM). We are preparing further complementary services for other registered members, e.g. sending the very latest supplies and demands by e-mail, preferential prices for creation of web presentations, the sending of further supplementary information, e.g. statistics of timber prices.
You will have a competitive advantage over those not registered, as you will have at your disposal a further information source for your business policy.
After having registered, your company will appear in the list of registered companies. Each and every one can verify that you are a registered member of the database and that your supplies and demands can be found in it. You will find this list in the menu under item "Registered Companies".
How to register?
There is a registration form to be found under item "Registration", which serves for the purpose of registration.
All registration data serve as contact data for your future potential suppliers or customers. A part of them is displayed in the list of registered companies. The complete list is displayed in a special window only after you have entered a supply or demand into the database. If a concerned party finds your supply or demand in the database through the aid of an enquiry form, it will have the possibility of displaying a detail of your supply or demand and of your detailed contact data in a special window, or eventually print them on a printer.
For this reason try to be as accurate as ever when filling in your registration data. Contact data can be entered in using diacritics (inverted circumflexes and accents). Registration data are confirmed (transmitted -sent off) by the pushbutton "Transmit Contact". If you are not sure that the registration has been carried out correctly, repeat it. Your registration data will be received by the application administrator, who will, in the shortest possible time, allocate a member code to you.
If you make a mistake in the course of filling in the form, you can use the pushbutton "Delete Form". On making use of this option, the entire form will be deleted and you can inscribe your registration data again and make a fair copy.
We recommend in the final phase of entering (prior to sending off) that you print the entered registration data and save it for eventual further checking or recording..
The application administrator will send you your member code to your e-mail address or if you do not have one, you will receive confirmation of your registration by fax. We recommend that e-mail is used. If you do not have one, you can establish an e-mail account at a line of free e-mail www servers (www.seznam.cz, www.centrum.cz, www.volny.cz , www.email.cz, www.post.cz etc.).
After receiving confirmation of registration by e-mail or fax from the application administrator, file carefully your member code!
What is important for you, and also in your interest, is not to divulge your member code to a third party. It could happen that the latter could make supplies or demands in your name without you being aware of it, or could modify or cancel your supplies and demands!

How to change registration data?
If a change should occur after registration of registration data - company name, contact person, address, e-mail, telephone, fax or become aware that during registration a "mishap" occurred, you can rectify. the fault in the registration - using the menu "Registration Correction". You can either rewrite all the registration data, or just the one item of data, which is to be changed. It is important to enter your allocated member code into the correction form, the former serving as unambiguous identification of your registration. Corrected registration data are confirmed (sent off) by the pushbutton "Send Contact".
If you make a mistake during the filling in of the form, you can use the pushbutton "Delete Form". After this choice the entire form is deleted and you can again write out a fair copy of the corrections of your registration data.
We recommend, in the final phase of correcting the registration (before sending it off), printing of the entered registration data and its saving for eventual further checking or recording.
As confirmation of the changes of your registration data, you will receive from the application administrator an e-mail (fax) message confirming the executed changes in the registration.
Your last registration or last correction of registration will be considered to be the last valid data!
How to enter your supply or demand into the database?
If you have not yet done your registration or have not yet received confirmation of your registration, then first of all, read the chapter "How to register oneself".
The application is now classified according to assortment into round timber, pulpwood and industrial wood. Within the frame of each assortment it is possible to write in your supplies or demands. The items "Supply - Insert" or "Demand - Insert" serve for data entry. This involves forms, which have a similar appearance, and differ only in the inserted data, some of which are repeated in all the forms - tree species, specification, member code, validity till.
Individual supplies or demands can be specified with the aid of the data in the entry form. It is up to each and every one how the supply or demand is described. None of the data are obligatory, which means that application does not require their filling in, except for the member code, which serves then for the unambiguous identification of the submitter (registered member). However, it would serve no purpose to leave all the fields of the form not filled in. Such a supply or demand would have no information value and, most probably, nobody would seek it.
The form field is filled in either from the pull-down menu (tree species, quality, currency, specific unit, delivery terms). Here only the value in the pull-down menu is entered or the field is filled in manually. Fields filled in manually are either text type (specification, member code), numerical (length, width, thickness, log diameter, quantity, price), date (valid until) or logical (small / large quantities, air-dried, edging).
The text item Specification serves universally for a more detailed specification of your supply or demand, where you can specify data in words which you could not have specified otherwise in other fields of the form.
The date item Validity serves to limit the validity of your supply or demand. After exceeding the entered in validity date, your supply or demand is automatically deleted from the database. If you would like to limit or prolong the validity of your supply or demand, it will suffice to correct the datum in Valid Until. It is important to enter the time datum in the form dd.mm.yyyy, which means that the first entry is the day (two-digit - 01, 15), then the month (two-digit - 01, 11) and finally the year (four-digit - 2000, 2001)., all separated by a dot.
Logical items serve for selection between two quantities (Yes / No). The item Large / Small Quantities serves for oriented differentiation as to the size of the supply or demand. A small quantity is understood to be such a quantity which can be loaded onto one truck or wagon (approx. 20 m3). A large quantity is such a one which will not fit into one truck or wagon. Despite the fact that you are entering the quantity by a concrete number (quantity from - to), it is good to fill in this datum, in order to facilitate the searching of your supply or demand from the aspect of haulage.
Numerical items are recognised by the unit following them (m, mm, m3, %). Numerical items must have the values entered in numbers, otherwise they will not be accepted. It is also important to enter the values in the units, which are stated next to the numerical item. If you are entering in the price, it is important to state the currency correctly!
Most important is the entry of your member code, otherwise your supply or demand will not be accepted.
If you wish to delete the form and begin again, use the pushbutton "Delete Form".
After filling in the field, send your entered-in data to the database by the pushbutton "Send Supply" or "Send Demand". Following this step, a table will be displayed where you can check whether you have entered in correctly all data, or that you have entered in the entire data. If you wish to correct or complement anything, return to pushbutton "Correct" . If you wish to enter in the data into the database, use the pushbutton "Enter". After confirmation your data will be written in into the database and the application will bring you back to the blank form for the entry of a new record.
We recommend in the final phase of entering either prior to sending off or confirming, that you print the entered registration data and save them for eventual further checking or recording.
How to browse, change or cancel your supplies or demands in the database?
After entering in your supply or demand, you will want to check whether all has been entered in into the database in the manner that you wanted, or you will want to correct some data, or to delete some supplies or demands from the database, either because they are no longer up-to-date, or have been satisfied.
For this purpose there is to be found in all assortments the menu selection "Supply - Change" and "Demand - Change". It is not possible to browse the supplies and demands of all assortments simultaneously as they differ in the entered data. You can enter always only one certain assortment, either the supplies or demands. If you wish to check your supplies of round timber, opt for the menu selection "Round Timber - Supplies - Changes".
You will get into the query form where the fields are identical with the entering-in form. Here you can with the aid of filled-in individual fields and your member code, select (filter out) only your own selected records from the database. The only obligatory item is the member code. If you enter in only the member code, all the supplies and demands of the given assortment, which are entered in the database under your member code, will be displayed as a result. By filling in of the field of the query form you can specify in more detail which records are to be displayed.
For example, if you enter spruce into the item tree species, the result of the query will be the display of all records into which you entered spruce as the tree species (within the frame of the given assortment and supply or demand).
After filling in the selected fields and sending off via the pushbutton "Send Off Form", a list of the entries made by you in the database will be displayed. Entries are classed alphabetically according to tree species and quality always in 5 entries. Using option "Further Entries" or "Preceding Entries" you can browse all the selected entries. The number of selected entries is displayed above the list (Number of found documents: 9). Clicking on the graphic icon at the end of the table enables you to browse the entries (Detail of Entry), change (Change Entry) or cancel (Delete Entry) them.
On selection of "Delete Entry", the member code must be entered in again for authorisation purposes. After its send off, the selected entry is cancelled from the database . If you intend to enter in new supplies and demands after deleting invalid entries, you can make use of the option "Change" for complete changing of all data and thus save yourself the trouble of taking the steps for deletion of entries and insertion of a new entry. On selection of "Change Entry" you get into the editing form with filled in data of the selected entry. On complementing or changing the data and filling in the member code (authorisation of change) it is possible to confirm the changes with the pushbutton "Send Off Data", and similarly as in loading of entries, a table will be displayed, where you can check whether you have corrected all data properly. If you wish to correct or complement something, go back via pushbutton "Correct". If you really wish to enter the change of data into the database, use the pushbutton "Confirm".On confirmation the changes of data are written into the database and the application returns you to the list of selected entries. The option "Detail of Entry" serves for browsing the details of entry in a special window prior to the change and after the change, without the need of entry into the editing form.
We recommend in the final phase of correction of data, either prior to their send off or their confirmation, to print and save the corrected data for eventual own checking or recording.
How to search supplies or demands of other registered members in the database TIMBEREXCHANGE (OBCHOD DŘÍVÍM)?
The application is classified according to assortment into round timber, pulpwood and industrial wood. Within the frame of each assortment it is possible to browse supplies or demands. The items "Supply - Query" or "Demand - Query" serve for data searching. This involves query forms, which have a similar appearance, and differ only in the items, some of which are repeated in all the forms - tree species, quality. Filling in of the individual items of the form enters selective criteria for display of entries. None of the items is obligatory. Thus, if for example, no entry is made into the field of the form "Round Timber - Supply - Query" and the vacant selective criterion is confirmed by the pushbutton "Send Off Query", a list of all valid supplies of round timber of registered members of the database will be displayed as a result of the query.
The browsing of the database in the testing regimen is not linked to the member code. All visitors to the application TIMBEREXCHANGE (OBCHOD DŘÍVÍM) have access to the entered records.
The logics of data searching is based on the fact that if we are looking for the supply of another registered member (that is, we are demanding something) we shall search supplies "Supply - Query". If we are looking for demands of another registered member (that is, we are making a supply), we shall search the demands - "Demand - Query".
If you are not sure that you will be able to find the required supply or demand in the database, do not pose the query in too much detail unnecessarily. It may happen quite often that based on the criteria entered by you, no record will be displayed, because there exists no record corresponding to the selective criteria entered in by you. It is better to start with a broad range. Enter in only a tree species or required quality. If a large number of entries are displayed, you can start specifying your query in more detail, till you reach the required entries, or as the case may be, there is no supply or demand corresponding to your notion.
In each of the results of your query where some entries are found, you will see a display of the number of entries corresponding to the criteria given by you (Number of found documents: 115) and always, 5 entries at the most, you can with the aid of the options "Further Entries" and "Preceding Entries" have all the selected entries displayed. By clicking on the graphic icon at the end of the table enables you to browse a selected entry (Detail of Entry), or gain contact to the submitter (owner) of the supply or demand (Contact on the Client).
The option: "Detail of Entry" serves for browsing details of entries in a special window with the possibility of a printout. The option "Contact on the Client" serves for browsing contact data of the submitter (owner) of the supply or demand in a special window with the possibility of a printout, or by direct e-mailing , if the e-mail is given in the contact data.
If you are not able to find a demand in the database which corresponds to your supply, enter your supply into the database. In the same way, if you are not able to find a supply in the database which corresponds to your demand, enter your demand into the database.
An essential precondition for submission of a supply or demand is registration!
